About

Making the decision to start with a new counselor or beginning counseling for the first time can bring up a mix of feelings.  I like to make the process as nonthreatening as possible.  I respect that you will open up in your own way and at your own pace.   I also offer upon request a free 20 minute consultation just to meet and see if it's a good fit for you.

My background: I moved about in childhood due to the military; have lived in Grand Junction since 1992; parented my now adult children; and survived and thrived after divorce.  I enjoy moving about, whether outdoors, in the gym or wildly to music, and appreciate practicing yoga and the art of just being.  I'm deeply grateful, meeting people where they are in their lives, providing support and opportunity for healing and psychological wellness.

Education: MA, Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education, University of Colorado-Denver, 2006; JD, University of Arizona, 1987

BS, Sociology, Northern Arizona University, 1984

State of Colorado license #5591

Integration

I've become especially interested in understanding the complexity of human biological, emotional, mental, and spiritual development and interconnectivity.  In furtherance of that, I've been immersed in learning Somatic Experiencing, an approach to help dive deeper into one's experience of self in the world via the nervous system.  I'm anticipating receiving the SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner) credential in 2021.

Services

People from all backgrounds are welcome.  Ages range from 13 years old through elders; individuals and couples.

Accepting self-pay and several major insurances (Blue Cross Blue Shield; United; Aetna; Tricare; Multiplan).  I'm also a provider with several of the local employee assistance plans (EAP), through which many employers offer free, confidential counseling.
